OVERSEAS TRAINED TEACHERS Frequently Asked Questions Assessment of Qualifications An assessment of your qualifications on the form, ‘Application for Assessment of Qualifications’, is the first step in the process to determine eligibility for registration as a qualified teacher in South Australia. The assessment of qualifications is completed in accordance with the Board's minimum prescribed qualification requirements for registration as a teacher.  An Application for Assessment of Qualifications can be lodged by post  or person at any time as there is no closing date. An application cannot be lodged electronically. An application will be considered by the Board and the applicant will be advised in writing of the Board's decision. Registration as a Teacher in Australia An Application for Registration as a Teacher in South Australia can be lodged  from an overseas location only when all the Board pre-requisites listed below have been met. It can be lodged by post or in person and at any time, as there are no closing date.  An application cannot be lodged electronically. If you meet all of the Board’s pre-requisites for teacher registration which are:- the current minimum prescribed qualification requirements ;     the English language requirement (if applicable);     undergoing an Overseas and Australian criminal record check. You should refer to question 9.9 in the Application for Teacher Registration. Please note that applicants who require an overseas police check must obtain this check before lodging the Application for Registration form mandatory notification training       then lodge the form Application for Teacher Registration, with all required documentation, and pay the registration fee.   For information on professional teacher licensing in other States of Australia, please refer to the appropriate agency.
