Australian Teacher Workforce Data Survey
Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) initiative
After families, teachers are the number one influence on the learning lives of our children. To ensure teachers are properly supported throughout their careers, it’s important that we understand the challenges and opportunities they face.
The Australian Teacher Workforce Data (ATWD) project is an exciting initiative that is building a comprehensive picture of the national teaching workforce, across all systems and sectors, from initial teacher education through to the end of a teaching career.
The ATWD is a valuable resource that will allow us to work together to ensure that teachers are well supported, and schools are well resourced to deliver quality learning for every child.
Understanding the profession
To properly understand the teaching workforce, we need to hear from teachers. The ATWD Survey is the teacher voice in the ATWD, providing an opportunity for teachers to help us understand their work experiences and how we might address the opportunities and challenges facing the profession.
The ATWD Survey
The ATWD Survey is a voluntary, 10-minute survey that is available to teachers annually. This crucial component of the ATWD will help us gain real insight into the modern teaching experience. For example:
- What are the trends in out-of-field teaching, teaching loads and non-teaching activities?
- Where are there shortages in specialisations?
This year, all registered teachers in South Australia can participate in the ATWD Survey via their Teachers Portal account. Log in to the Teachers Portal, scroll down to the Australian Teacher Workforce Dataset Teacher Survey and click on the ‘take me to the survey’ button.
TRB SA is committed to quality teaching and ensuring our teachers are well prepared and supported throughout their careers. We are participating in the ATWD and encourage teachers to participate through the ATWD Teacher Survey.
