*Required if you studied for initial teacher education qualification in a country other than Australia or New Zealand
Fee Schedule Showing Indexation
Fees are subject to annual indexation in the Regulations. Indexation is calculated using the Australian Bureau of Statistics Consumer Price Index for Adelaide for the year ending 30 September in the previous calendar year, and applicable fee increases are rounded to the nearest dollar.
The indexation for the year ending 30 September 2022 provided an 11.1% increase from the base year of 2021.
The fees subject to indexation are shown below.

Payment of Fees
Fees must be paid before an application can be processed. If an application is withdrawn or an application for registration is unsuccessful, the registration fee will be refunded. An assessment of qualifications fee or criminal history check fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Payment can be made by Visa or MasterCard, whether or not the card is a credit card or debit card. Please note that the Card Verification Value (CVV) number is required. This is a security feature for these transactions. The CVV number is located on the back of your card and is the three digit number to the right of the signature strip.
All applications are dealt with in a confidential manner by the Board. The card and CVV numbers will be destroyed once your application has been processed.
Further Information
The Teachers Registration Board is an Independent Statutory Authority established to regulate the teaching profession. The Board is funded through the collection of registration fees. It receives no funding from government.
Under amendments to the Teachers Registration and Standards Act 2004, that apply from 1 July 2021, the period of registration is now five years. There are now three components to registration fees. All new and renewing teachers must pay the relevant application fee, the Nationally Coordinated Criminial History Check fee, and at least one annual fee. Applicants can choose to pay annual fees upfront at the time of application for between one and five years. Paying multiple years upfront will avoid CPI increases for those future years. Fees are indexed on 1 February every year.
The TRB can grant registration but can also cancel, suspend or impose sanctions on registration. This is done by peer review and is a critical factor in ensuring only competent and fit and proper persons have the care of children and young people. This provides assurance to other members of the profession as well as the wider community.
