Professional Learning

Share your learning

As teachers we hold the key to student learning but what about our own learning?
Like members of other professions, we need to be continuous learners who see our own learning as being fundamental to membership of the profession. With changes to teacher registration we are required to complete 60 hours of professional learning which can improve our knowledge, practice and engagement in the profession.
"The kinds of change that really matter in education are not structural changes but those that build teacher capacity and professional culture."
- Ingvarson (2005)

We want to hear from you!

Are you a teacher who has a positive story to tell about your professional learning experiences? If so, we would like to hear your story.

The Board believes that supporting professional learning means sharing knowledge for the benefit of the teaching profession. We invite teachers to tell us their story of how they have engaged in professional learning and how the experience has positively contributed to their teaching.

Renewal of Registration 2014

November – December 2014 is a peak renewal period for the large number of teachers who first came onto the Register of Teachers in 1976.

As of 10 November 2014, we have processed 4,100 renewal applications. If you’re one of the remaining 9,400 teachers that need to renew their registration, you can access your application through the Teachers’ Portal.
