Professional learning

In response to teachers’ feedback, the Board has updated its Professional Learning Policy.
Each year the renewal of registration occurs between mid-October and 31 December. Previously (as outlined in issue 36 of the Buzz), any professional learning undertaken in the January just after a renewal period and prior to the start of a new term of registration (February), could not be counted towards the 60 hours of professional learning required by teachers in each three year term.

Under the new policy teachers will now be able to include professional learning completed from their date of renewal, (anytime between October and 31 December), up until the date of their next renewal.
The Teachers Portal has been updated to reflect this change which you can view in our instructional video here. The Teachers Portal is a safe, central location to store all of your professional learning. If you don’t have a portal account, watch our video on how to sign up for one here.
All professional learning activity previously recorded on the portal is still available to access and print.
