Teaching Service for Renewal of (full) Registration

To renew your (full) registration, you need to have completed the required number of days of Teaching Service during your current term of registration.

To maintain your (full) registration, you are required to work on average a minimum of 20 days per year (60 days across a three-year registration term and 100 days during the new five-year registration term) as a:

  • teacher
  • principal, or
  • director

at a:

  • school in Australia or New Zealand; or
  • prescribed service in South Australia ( preschool and long day care)

Not undertaken the required days as a teacher?

If you have not undertaken the required days of employment as a registered teacher and you have met all other renewal requirements (including your required Professional Learning) you may be granted (full) registration for a further term of five years with a notation on your Certificate of Teacher Registration as below.

  • For teachers whose previous term was for three-years, this notation reads; “60 days of employment as a teacher under Part 5 of the Act to be verified”.
  • For teachers whose previous term was for five-years, this notation reads; “100 days of employment as a teacher under Part 5 of the Act to be verified”.

Under these circumstances you may still hold (full) registration, enabling you to undertake employment as a registered teacher.
