Section 24(2) of the Teachers Registration and Standards Act 2004 (the Act) makes it a condition of every registration that teachers must notify the Teachers Registration Board of South Australia (the Board) in writing, within 14 days, in certain circumstances including; when charged with a specified criminal offence, dismissal/resignation in response to allegations of unprofessional conduct, incompetence, improper conduct relating to a child or if they become a prohibited person or no longer have a current working with children check.

There is also a requirement on employers (and former employers in some instances) pursuant to section 37 of the Act to submit a written report, within 7 days, to the Board in relation to a teacher’s conduct, competency, or the impairment of a teacher’s capacity to teach.
