Minister’s Graduate Achievement Prize

The Minister’s Graduate Achievement prize recognises a pre-service teacher (PST) who has recently graduated, or is about to graduate, from a South Australian Initial Teacher Education program, who has overcome a hurdle during their study, for example a personal, academic, financial, or health issue that may have otherwise been a barrier to their success.

Each of South Australia’s ITE providers is able to nominate up to three of their PSTs, who are completing either an accredited Bachelors or Masters degree, and intend to register with the Teachers Registration Board in the year of the prize.

The winner will have their first five years registration fees reimbursed by the Board (excluding the National Coordinated Criminal History Check fee).

Along with the Application Form, nominations must include:

  1. A current unofficial transcript showing student achievement and GPA.
  2. A written statement from the PST, between 1000 -1500 words describing an issue or situation they have had to overcoming during their study, including describing key learning activities from their degree, outstanding achievements from their study, and where they see themselves within the teaching profession in five years’ time.
  3. A written statement from the nominating academic staff member, or mentor teacher from one of the PST’s professional experiences, between 1000-1500 words, addressing the PST’s suitability for the teaching profession, how the PST has worked to overcome a hurdle during their study, and achievements from their study that makes them suitable for consideration for the award.

The Teachers Registration Board Service Award

The Teachers Registration Board Service award recognises teachers with 20 or more years of service to the teaching profession.  Teachers are able to self-nominate or be nominated by another registered teachers who is currently working with the nominee or has done so in the five years prior to nomination.

Nominations should include a CV (or other statement), including the nominee’s contact details and showing employment history over the past 20 years**.

Nominations must be supported by a statement of no more than 1500 words addressing one or more of the following criteria:

  • Impact the nominee has had on the academic, social, and mental wellbeing of their learners
  • Nominee’s engagement with contemporary teaching practices, and/or community activities, to promote learner engagement, attendance and/or academic growth
  • Nominee’s collaboration with colleagues, including mentorship to new teachers or contributing to professional learning communities
  • Any other activities undertaken by the nominee that makes them an outstanding long-career teacher

** Potential nominees should not be discouraged if their CV indicates periods of maternity leave.

The successful nominee will be presented with a trophy.
