Minister’s Graduate Achievement Prize

The Minister’s Graduate Achievement prize recognises a pre-service teacher (PST) who has recently graduated, or is about to graduate, from a South Australian Initial Teacher Education program, who has overcome a hurdle during their study, for example a personal, academic, financial, or health issue that may have otherwise been a barrier to their success.

Each of South Australia’s ITE providers is able to nominate up to three of their PSTs, who are completing either an accredited Bachelors or Masters degree, and intend to register with the Teachers Registration Board in the year of the prize.

Along with the Application Form, nominations must include:

  1. A current unofficial transcript showing student achievement and GPA.
  2. A written statement from the PST, between 1000 -1500 words describing an issue or situation they have had to overcome during their study, including describing key learning activities from their degree, outstanding achievements from their study, and where they see themselves within the teaching profession in five years’ time.
  3. A written statement from the nominating academic staff member, or mentor teacher from one of the PST’s professional experiences, between 1000-1500 words, addressing the PST’s suitability for the teaching profession, how the PST has worked to overcome a hurdle during their study, and achievements from their study that makes them suitable for consideration for the award.

We have extended the deadline for submissions. Applications must now be submitted electronically to professional.standards@trb.sa.edu.au no later than midnight on 22 September 2025.

The successful nominee will be presented with an award at an event to be held in the Adelaide Town Hall, David Spence Room, between 5-7pm on the 4th of November of 2025.
